Yayoi Kusama Inspired Painting
Monday 20th January, 10am-12pm
Suitable for ages 7+

In honour of the NGV’s current exhibition of Yayoi Kusama and its popularity last time, we will be running this activity again.
Learn about the wonderfully colourful Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, also known as the Princess of Polka Dots. Explore her inspiration, motifs and why she loves dots. In this class kids create their own painting in the style of Kusama using acrylic paints and paint pens on a stretched canvas.

Whale Shark Swimming in the Galaxy
Monday 20th January, 1pm-3pm
Suitable for ages 7+

This activity is inspired by a video of a whale shark swimming in the sea at night, surrounded by bioluminescent algae.
In this guided drawing activity, learn how to draw a whale shark and explore how ink and watercolour can be used to create an ocean galaxy.

Black Cockatoo Collage
Tuesday 21st January, 10am-12pm Suitable for ages 7+
$40
Create a large, beautiful Black Cockatoo collage using ink and paint on watercolour paper.
Participants will learn how to transfer an image of a Cockatoo onto an A3 heavy weight paper and then collage it using material they have hand painted. Details are added as a final touch with Posca Pens.

All About Me Sharpie Doodles
Tuesday 21st January, 1pm-3pm
Suitable for ages 7+

Inspired by the delightful young artist with abundant creativity, 3 year old Karlie Bai from TikTok.
In this session participants use Sharpies on heavy stock A3 cartridge paper to create a doodle portrait of themselves and all the things they love in life.

Anne Graete Alter Egos
Wednesday 22 January, 10am-12pm

Anne Graete is a German artist, illustrator and social worker who is focused on diversity, variety, equality and sustainability.
Described as ‘Gruseliges’ Her folding vibrant paper faces reveal something creepy, horrifying or gruesome inside. In this session participants use pencil, markers and paint pens to create their own Gruseliges that reveal their alter ego.

Alma Thomas Inspired Landscapes

Suitable for ages 7+

Using acrylic paint on heavy weight cartridge paper, participants create a landscape in the distinctive mosaic painting style of African-American abstract artist Alma Thomas.

Collograph Printing
Thursday 23 January, 10am - 12pm

Learn about creating patterns while developing printmaking skills in a fun and safe way. No sharps tools!!
Using sticky backed foam and styrofoam participants create shapes and designs that can be repeated and overlapped to create vibrant patterns printed on paper.

Cut Paper Flower Cards
Thursday 23 January, 1pm-3pm
$30
Drawing inspiration from French artist Agathe Singer’s gouache flowers, kids make a set of 6 floral collages using blocks of colour and soft shapes.
Once kids have drawn their design they use coloured paper to cut floral shapes and paste their designs on to a pre-folded, heavy weight cards.
